How do you choose a printer?

Do you want to buy yourself a printer? That’s good! You’re the right person on the right site because I’m going to give you some piece of advice to help you choose the appropriate equipment for your needs.

In the first place before buying a printer you must set its purpose because you cannot look into the Mitsubishi printing machines catalog if you want just to print 15-20 sheets per week. Anyway, the IT stores come up with a vast variety of printers offers so that everybody finds the product they are looking for.

All you have to do before that is choose the type of printer that would serve you best. There are 3 well-known types of printers: the matrix printers, the inkjet printers and the laser ones.

I’m going to tell you a few words about the 3 types, especially their advantages and disadvantages, so that it would be easier for you to make a decision on the right equipment.

The matrix printers

This is an old type of printer which today is used for printing only invoices or some standard forms. The most notable advantages for this kind of printer are given by the lowest cost of printing one sheet and the low price of the toner.

The disadvantages of the matrix printers are given by the high buying price, the noise that they are causing in the printing process and a very low printing speed. This printer is ideal for an accountancy department in a company or somewhere where there is no need for a high-quality of the printing.

The inkjet printers

This type of printers is the most popular one because of its very good price/quality report and so its most important advantage is given by the accessible buying price. Their main disadvantage is represented by the high price of the toner but let me tell you a trick: some of the toners may be refilled to a much lower price, of course. This type of printer is ideal for home use.

Laser printers

The most important advantage of this type of printer is given by the high-quality of the printing at a lower cost per sheet than the inkjet ones. The laser printers are used especially for professional printings (books, magazines, brochures etc.).

The main disadvantage is given by the high buying price and the toner’s price too and so it is not recommended for home use but it’s a very good long term investment into an office.

Every printer has a lot of other specifications like resolution, printing speed, the toner’s price, the internal memory and other technical things but they are in a direct bound with the price. As the buying price is higher the printer is much more equipped.

Finally, all you have to do now is pay a little bit of attention on the IT stores’ special offers and, on the information that I gave you, to find a printer that will really suite yourself and your allocated budget.
